National Park ”Pripiatsky”
The National Park ”Pripiatsky” is situated 250 km to the south from the city of Minsk and 350 km to the east from Brest, at the very centre of Belarusian Polesye (Marshy Woodlands). The park territory includes a twisting section of the Prypiat River 46 km long and its flood-land. The total area of the park is over 83 thousand sq.ha.
The territory of the park stretches for 64 km from the west to the east and for 27 km from the north to the south. The park lies in a vast plain and occupies the south of Pripiat Polesye. Here guests are offered several different tours — by car, on foot and by water — and the duration of the tour can vary from one to several days. Guests stay at the following tourist complexes: “Kholupinskaya Buda”, “Liaskovichy” and “Cheretianka”. Fauna of the national park is represented by 45 species of mammals, 256 species of birds, 7 species of reptiles, 11 species of amphibians and 37 kinds of fish. The administrative center of the park is situated in an urban village Turov that was the capital of Turov-Pinsk Principality, one of the ancient principalities at the time of Kievan Rus. Nowadays there is a museum of nature, research laboratories, a hotel and the National Park’s administrative office there.
